Topic of intervention “The Council of Europe’s role in «bringing human rights home»”: The Council of Europe’s efforts to support its member states in ensuring that the ECHR is applied at the national level. This support is done through capacity development, mainly for legal professionals, and in the future, law faculties may be targeted as well.

Topic of intervention “Study of human rights at the Faculty of Law of the European University Viadrina, Germany”. The speaker will share German and European experience of running Summer school “The European System of Human Rights Protection” and a special LLM in “International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law”. Attention will be given to the issue of influence of the European Court of Human Rights' judgements on legal education in Germany.

4. Dr. Marie-Elisabeth Baudoin, Maître de Conférences en Droit public à l'Université d'Auvergne (Professor of Public Law, University of Auvergne), Vice-Dean of the Law School in charge of the International Relations, Co-director of an LLM program in International Law and International Relations.

Topic of intervention. Dr. Marie-Elisabeth Baudoin focuses her research work on the implementation of the European Convention of Human Rights in Eastern Europe. She will speak on "How Human Rights Law became an "autonomous" legal subject in France". The speaker will share the experience of teaching European Human Rights Law at the University of Auvergne Law School, but also will discuss the history of teaching European Human Rights Law in France and the influence of ECHR decisions on legal education in France.

Topic of intervention “The European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms in French administrative Law: from international law to domestic law”. The speaker will demonstrate that a French administrative judge apply the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights in the same way as domestic law. Specific examples from very own judicial practice will be provided (how a judge deals with the Convention and the ECHR case-law) and also talk about the evolutions of the protection of human rights in prisons (from the judge's perspective) inferred by the case law of the ECHR?

How European law on the rights of the prisoners has led to the emergence of the prison law of France.
